Uncovering LILIW

"You can wear anything, as long as long as you put a nice pair of shoe or slipper with it."

A woman could not complete her attire without putting a nice shoe/ slipper with what she wear. And because of this inclination, I am always mystified on what LILIW can offer me. I was so lucky enough to have a full day for myself just galivanting alone.
From Nagcarlan after the Bunga Falls adventure and a visita Iglesia, I headed to Liliw, the Tsinelas(slipper) capital of the Philippines, famous of their shoes and slippers made from indigenous materials. I tok a jeepney ride from the main town of Nagcarlan, fare was extremely cheap, 8.00 Philippine peso or .186 US$. The ride was approximately 10-15 minutes from Nagcarlan.
Welcome to LILIW!
Liliw is a small town in Laguna where the primary trade is selling footwear. Unlike Marikina which focuses on leather materials, in this town, the slippers and women sandals are made from indigenous materials such us abaca, cloth or banig or the traditional mat. They come on colorful designs mostly floral and traditional beads that make it more artistic. Aztec designs can be found on their shoes which are in for fashion nowadays. Stores display almost similar designs so you can bargain with the price. One tip for lady costumers, don't buy immediately, try on checking from store to store, some has the same prices but their will always be a 10 peso difference.

Shop sells different shoes, sandals or slippers for different occassions or everyday use. You can find some designs fit for a party or just for daily wear in the office or to pair with your casual shorts and tee.

Prices starts at 3 for 100.00 pesos or if you buy just one pair it will cost you 40 pesos(.93 US$).  Wedge  or sandals cost from 220- 500 pesos.

But Liliw is not just shoes and slippers, you can find pretty bags made from native materials as well, basically mats. Colorful indeed cost ranges from 380.00 pesos(8.80 US$) to 780.00 pesos(18.18 US$).

After a long day of walk, you will never walk away not buying yourself a pair of liliw shoes or sandals.

And to satisfy our gastronomic need, don't iss to drop by at ARABELA Camello's Bakehous and coffee Shop. Indulge yourself to pizza, pasta, steak, fish and sweets like tiramisu, bread pudding, brownies, cheesecakes and a lot more which is surprisingly cheap add to it a nice and cosy ambiance- an itlaian- filipino inspired themed cafe.

This is an old house transformed to a coffee shop yet still showing the a the antique built of the house.
The staffs were welcoming. Menu are properly presented and the sets are comfy. You can see framed pictures of the church and the town signifying the owner's love of its homeland. This is home... this is Liliw and I salute this owner for showcasing international and cuisine in a very presentable yet still showing the roots of your homeland.

Food was tasty. I am a pasta lover, so since I was hungry and tired, I ordered fettuccine and treat myself  marble brownies. Guess how much I paid? add to that the cost of the ambiance, which I always seek when looking for a resto... a mere 130 pesos(3.02 dollars)! And in this small town, this foodhaus accept creditcards and debit card as mode of payment! Amazing! You really get your money's worth in Arabela.

When you are in Liliw do not miss to pay visit to St. John the baptist Church...
